The Human Design System, an innovative blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary science, provides a fascinating map of human potential. One of the intriguing paths within this map is Channel 58/18. But what does this exactly mean for you?

Basics of the Human Design System

The Human Design System is a modern interpretation of ancient wisdom and sciences, combined with astronomy, I-Ching, chakras, and quantum physics. Sounds complex, right? It can be! But don’t worry, I’ll try to explain it as simply and humorously as possible. 😉 This system describes how we function energetically and mechanically as individuals and how we can navigate the world most effectively. And this is where Channel 58/18 comes into play.

The Significance of Channel 58/18

Channel 58/18 connects the Root Center, which provides us with adrenaline and cortisol to kick us into action in life, with the Spleen Center, our inner integrated wildcat, and consists of two gates:

• Gate 58 – The Gate of Vitality and Joy: This gate embodies the joy of life. It’s about examining, refining, and sharing various life patterns when invited, and fully embracing life with a spark of love for it. It’s the pressure to reclaim the joy of living and the love for life.
• Gate 18 – The Gate of Correction: Here, it’s about correct structure and the ability to correct things, ALWAYS seeing the error everywhere. Because when you see the error, you can correct it. It embodies the drive to improve and perfect things. It’s about working on the spoiled, to sweep away the grime that has been imposed on us through life experiences and deficient authorities, out of our system.

The Dynamics of the Channel

Individuals with this defined channel are often energetic, with a natural adrenaline drive to challenge authorities (parents, governments, etc.), enjoy life, and make it better. They are often the ones who liven up a party or passionately drive an idea forward, BUT ONLY when they are correct and their life is dictated by strategy and authority, not by the mind’s web woven together by trauma and conditioning.

It’s the pressure in Channel 58/18 and the intuitive perception to challenge life’s patterns. We have soooo many patterns we live by, many of which are often unconscious, to examine whether these life patterns generate joy or rather result in suffering and degeneration.

Characteristics of Channel 58/18:

• Joy of Life: Individuals with this channel often have infectious energy and can easily inspire others with their enthusiasm. They also possess a lot of determination and don’t give up easily, IF they live correctly according to strategy and authority.
• Critical Eye: Their desire for perfection can make them excellent editors, critics, or excel in any profession that requires a keen eye for detail. They also make good potential teachers because, after all, a teacher’s job is to help others improve, and the Channel 58/18 adores that!
• Balance: While Gate 58 promotes joy in life, Gate 18 ensures that this joy comes with a sense of structure and order.

Handling Channel 58/18 Correctly:

• Acceptance: It’s important to accept that the drive for perfection and optimization isn’t always achievable. It’s okay not to make everything perfect all the time. Perfection shouldn’t become an obsession that hinders this individual. After all, perfection can always be perfected. AND, corrections should be made according to strategy and authority.
• Seeking Connection: Share your joy of life with others, but be willing to accept and offer constructive feedback. Also, you must learn to accept criticism directed at you, not just always criticizing others!
• Self-Care: Utilize this adrenalized energy for optimization according to Strategy and Authority, otherwise you might burn out. Recognize when it’s time to take a break and regenerate.
• Learn to Keep Quiet 😉, when correction is not invited: As wonderful and brilliant as this channel is, it has its shadows: You can be a pain in the ass for yourself and others by always criticizing and complaining, about yourself and others. This can lead to an obsession with self-improvement (many also have a tendency to look at themselves through the lens of “I’m not perfect,” and plastic surgery can be very tempting …) and never being satisfied with yourself. OR, when these individuals are very deep in the shadow, they can be overly critical of the people in their lives, making them feel like they are NEVER good enough because they are constantly being picked at and nitpicked.

And a few more tips if you have the Channel 58/18:

• Celebrate life: Use this energy according to your Strategy and Authority to refine life, but also to enjoy it to the fullest. Dance, discover what ignites your vitality, and be alive.
• Watch your criticism: Recognize when your drive for perfection is too harsh on yourself or others. A little self-reflection never hurts! 😉
• Seek like-minded individuals: How about finding people who also have this Channel? Together, you can rock the world (or at least the dance floor)! 😉
