Introduction to the Human Design Fear Gates in the Spleen, Solar Plexus, and Ajna Centers

Autor Angelina Fabian - Human Design

Written by Angelina Fabian

In Human Design, Ra Uru Hu taught that each energy center carries its own set of challenges and wisdom. Among these are the human design fear gates—specific points in the Spleen, Solar Plexus, and Ajna Centers that represent deep-seated fears or anxieties. These human design fear gates shape how we react to life, process emotions, and handle mental uncertainty.

  • The Spleen Center governs instinct and survival, and its fear gates reflect primal concerns—fears about physical safety, health, and the future. These fears are rooted in the body’s instinctual awareness, helping us navigate threats in our environment.
  • The Solar Plexus Center is responsible for emotional energy. Its fear gates are linked to the highs and lows of emotional experiences, focusing on fears related to intimacy, emotional fulfillment, and vulnerability. These gates influence how we deal with emotional connections and desires.
  • The Ajna Center controls mental processing and conceptualization. The fear gates here represent mental anxiety—fears about confusion, not knowing enough, or being misunderstood. These fears challenge our relationship with uncertainty and intellectual clarity.

The primary fear gates in the Spleen Center and their associated fears are:

    • Gate 48: Fear of Inadequacy—This gate is associated with a fear of not being ready or lacking the necessary skills or knowledge
    • Gate 57: Fear of the Future or the Unknown—This gate involves anxiety about what lies ahead or unfamiliar situations
    • Gate 44: Fear of Repeating Past Mistakes—This gate pertains to concerns about falling into old patterns or making the same errors again
    • Gate 50: Fear of Failing Responsibilities—This gate relates to worries about not fulfilling one’s duties or letting others down
    • Gate 32: Fear of Failure—This gate encompasses a general fear of not succeeding or achieving desired outcomes
    • Gate 28: Fear of Death or Lack of Purpose—This gate reflects existential concerns about mortality or leading a purposeless life (
    • Gate 18: Fear of Authority—This gate involves apprehensions about challenging authority figures or established norms

The Solar Plexus Center houses several fear gates, each representing distinct emotional challenges. Here are the fear gates identified by Ra Uru Hu:

    • Gate 6: Fear of Intimacy—Fear of becoming emotionally vulnerable by allowing others to get too close.
    • Gate 22: Fear of Silence—Fear of silence or being emotionally isolated, stemming from the need to be heard or understood.
    • Gate 30: Fear of the Fates—Fear of destiny or fate not aligning with one’s emotional desires, leading to uncertainty about the future.
    • Gate 36: Fear of Inadequacy—Fear of not being emotionally prepared for new experiences or crises, leading to hesitation or avoidance of change.
    • Gate 37: Fear of Tradition—Fear that traditional roles and expectations in relationships, particularly within communities, will not provide emotional security.
    • Gate 49: Fear of Nature—Fear of the unpredictable forces of nature or natural cycles disrupting emotional stability and relationships.
    • Gate 55: Fear of Emptiness—Fear of emotional or material emptiness, where nothing feels fulfilling or satisfying.

The Ajna Center, according to Ra Uru Hu, contains fear gates that reflect mental anxieties and uncertainties. Here are the key fear gates of the Ajna:

    • Gate 47: Fear of Futility—The fear that no matter how much you think, you won’t find a solution, leading to mental paralysis or frustration.
    • Gate 24: Fear of Ignorance—The fear of not knowing enough or not having the right information to make sense of things.
    • Gate 4: Fear of Chaos—The fear that life is too chaotic to ever be understood or logically organized.
    • Gate 17: Fear of Challenge—The fear of having your ideas or beliefs challenged by others, leading to insecurity in expressing your thoughts.
    • Gate 11: Fear of Darkness—The fear of mental confusion or not having clarity, which can make the mind feel lost or stuck.
    • Gate 43: Fear of Rejection—The fear that your unique insights or ideas will be rejected or misunderstood by others.
